From close to commission to activation
- Monday
You close
Owner signs. You submit the application from your phone.
- Same day

Standard files are decided the day they land.
- Tuesday
Commission paid
Next business day after approval. No net-30, no hold on commission.
- ~24 hours
Account activates
Terminal deployed, merchant starts processing, about 24 hours after approval. Residuals start accruing here.
Residual First is an independent sales agent programme for merchant services and payment processing, recruiting experienced business-to-business closers across the United States.
What comes off before your share
A split is meaningless until you know what it's a split of.
Three costs come off an account before your share is calculated. That is the entire list. No basis points added on top, no reserve taken for losses. The 90-day hold is not a reserve: it vests with you and is paid in full.
Diagram shows the order costs are applied, not their relative size. No amounts are stated or implied.
Why residuals matter
One pays once. One keeps paying.
A commission ends when the deal does. A residual accrues every month the merchant keeps processing, from the day the account activates. Residual is held across your first 90 days. Once you vest it is paid out and then arrives monthly, on every account you have processing, with no production minimum — residuals that have not vested when you leave stay with the company.

Straight answers
The questions experienced agents ask.
Are agents employees or independent contractors?
Independent contractors. You set your own schedule and market. No base salary, no draw, no benefits — and the book you build is yours.
When exactly does commission arrive?
The next business day after underwriting approves the deal. Standard files are decided the same day they are submitted, so a deal closed Monday is paid Tuesday.
Who owns the residual on an account I board?
You do, once you are vested. Residuals accrue from the day each account activates and are held across your first 90 days. Once you vest you receive the residual on every account you have processing, including everything accrued during the hold, and it keeps paying whether or not you keep selling. Leave before you vest and those residuals stay with the company.
What is the 40× portfolio conversion?
Your option to swap the monthly residual stream for one payment, at 40× the book’s trailing monthly residual. Entirely your call, and written into the agreement.
Do you provide appointments, and do they cost me anything?
5–6 pre-set decision-maker appointments a day. No cost, nothing deducted. You are still expected to generate your own activity — agents who only work supplied appointments do not do best here.
Can I move a book of accounts from my current programme?
Sometimes. It depends on what you signed — non-compete and portfolio clauses vary a lot between programmes. Bring your current agreement to the call and we will tell you straight.
Is there any cost to join?
None. No leads to buy, no equipment, no training fees, no background-check fee. Nobody asks for bank details before a signed agreement exists.
Do I need merchant services experience?
Merchant services experience helps but is not required. What is: real B2B closing experience, a resume that shows it, and the discipline to work a territory every day.
